toggle slidingbar area facebook instagram home contact & bookings surrounding area news guests comments home grumpydave 2018-06-16t16:22:50+00:00 loading... luxury glamping in suffolk – a romantic shepherds hut holiday for two. close to the wild but with all the luxury comforts you could wish for, this shepherds hut holiday really is glamping in style. situated in the beautiful stour valley on the essex/suffolk border. cool camping at its best! whether you want a short break, a romantic getaway or a longer self-catering holiday, this rural idyll really is an escape from the crazy world we live in. the shepherds hut is for two people and is completely secluded with no near neighbours, no farm buildings, no other huts. it’s not even fenced in because the surrounding meadows, woodland and lake are all yours for your stay. if you crave peace and quiet and just want to slow down, switch off and relax … if you want to lie in a hammock listening to the trees rustling and the birds singing … if you want to sit in the dinghy and watch the wildlife at play on the lake or enjoy glorious walks through the surrounding countryside … then borleymere shepherds hut offers the chance to shoot the breeze with the one you love and enjoy some real quality time. we are less than two hours drive from london and if you want to come by train (liverpool street – sudbury) we are very happy to pick you up and drop you back to sudbury station. we look forward to welcoming you to the little bit of heaven that is borleymere … and we are dog friendly too. charlie & jeremy hamp. the shepherd’s hut. the shepherd’s hut was hand built to our own specification. the emphasis has been to use traditional materials with design quality and comfort as our priority. the accommodation is small but feels spacious with a very comfortable double bed, table and chairs, plenty of storage and a wood-burning stove. the hut opens onto a decking area looking out over the mere. the adjoining kitchen cabin has everything you need to prepare meals including a small oven and hob. there is a barbecue and a wood brazier so you can sit and enjoy your supper by the fire in the evening while watching the wildlife around you. the shower cabin is tucked into the edge of the woodland, a short walk from the hut. here you will find a hot shower, sink and an eco-friendly compost loo. everything is designed to have a minimal impact on the environment. the shepherd’s hut and its facilities are for two people who want a bit of peace and quiet and a simpler way of life. there are torches, lanterns and candles but no telly, and no power. you can charge your phone and replenish the ice-packs at the nearby pump house but that’s as close as you get to technology! this is a link to a lovely review by one of our lovely guests… this little hut loading... the surrounding area and things to do. you might not want to leave the tranquillity of borleymere, a good book and comfy hammock maybe all you need…but there are plenty of wonderful things to do. in the hut you will find a folder filled with information about local activities and places to visit. walking and cycling: there are numerous opportunities for greats days out in the beautiful surrounding countryside, ancient woodlands, market towns and traditional villages. markets, shops and galleries: there are a plethora of local antique shops, craft shops, coffee shops, farmers markets and art galleries. wild swimming: enjoy a wild swim in the river stour. the private lake at borleymere is just outside the shepherd’s hut. eating out: as well as the superfluity of restaurants and cafés nearby there are several wonderful pubs in the local villages. messing about on the river stour: the stour is popular location for water sports. guided boat trips are available from the river stour trust and canoe expeditions with river stour boating. testimonials. “this secluded spot is so beautiful and will from now on have a special place in our lives as this place is where we got engaged!” j and j “this has been the most amazing holiday with everything so thoughtfully prepared. i would choose this over a 5* hotel any day and only wish i could choose it over my normal life” misty. “…. p.s. just seen a kingfisher while having breakfast, it was perched on the left hand column of the decking. borleymere is indeed unique and magical place.” colin and julie “it was so lovely to see the reed warblers building their nests just next to the hut and we enjoyed living out our swallows and amazon’s fantasies rowing the boat” robyn and jak copyright 2017 borleymere shepherds huts | designed by dave facebook instagram
